Rebecca and Adam described the vision for their Detroit wedding as “industrial minimal.” Their ceremony and reception were held in the stunning Ford Piquette Avenue Plant (the birthplace of the Model T!), which is truly an industrial dream come true. So keeping the color palette neutral and the design simple was key in order to let elements like the venue, flowers, and greenery shine on their own. It was also important to them to celebrate their city of Detroit and the rich history of the auto industry, which is where they met and still work today.

INVITATION SUITE

We developed a custom format for their invitations that stands out in being unique, but is also reminiscent of a poster to give it a bit of an industrial feel. All the information is together on one fold-out piece, and the RSVP section is perforated for recipients to easily tear off. Out of town guests also received a separate piece inviting them to a Friday welcome event, which includes a consistent perforated RSVP section. The folded up invitation created a tidy pocket for the welcome event piece and the response envelope to sit inside of, and the whole package was sealed up neatly with a belly band displaying a minimal silhouette of the Detroit skyline.

DAY-OF DETAILS

For the program and menu, I designed pieces that seamlessly maintained the same look and feel as the invitation suite. To keep their event ultra personal and unique to them, Rebecca and Adam chose to name their tables rather than number them. I realized this would be the perfect place to incorporate their love of Scrabble, so I created pieces that use tiles from the game to spell out the names. Also, to help guests navigate through the tables when finding their seat, I designed a custom map of the room and included it at the bottom of the seating chart.

REBECCA + ADAM'S WORDS

“Working with Rachel on our invitation suite for our wedding was one of the best planning decisions we made!

We provided Rachel very minimal direction and she designed an invitation that was perfectly “us”… from the overall style to the colors, right down to the unique tear-off response card. We received so many compliments from friends and family that our invitation was the best they’ve ever seen. The invites set up the overall theme for our Detroit wedding, so it was an easy choice to continue working with Rachel on our table names, seating chart, menus and programs. Everything looked so cohesive and professional. We could not have had such a custom touch on our wedding day without Rachel!

Throughout the design process, we had several FaceTime calls with her and exchanged emails as needed, to which she was always very responsive and buttoned up. We highly recommend working with Rachel for whatever you need. She will take your vision and bring it to life with a custom touch!”
