Ashley and Matt are a super sweet and fun couple who are all about exploring together, being on water, and spending time with family in Northern Michigan, where their wedding took place. The ceremony was at the cutest, most perfect little white church you’ve ever seen, and the reception was held at Matt’s family cottage on Torch Lake.

They came to me with a lovely vision for their day – a vibe that strikes balance between “up north” and chic, with details like sage colors, greenery, mercury glass, antlers, and string lighting. When it came to invitations and designed details, they wanted to make sure the pieces perfectly represented them and their wedding, as well as highlighted their unique and personal venue.

INVITATION SUITE

For the invitation suite, I was excited to find ways to showcase the reception venue. This cottage has been in Matt’s family for many years and generations, so it’s an incredibly special place to the couple. To convey this personal feel, I created a custom illustration of the house to be used throughout the suite. This same tactic was carried out to another illustration of the church, which I incorporated into the map.

I wanted to top this all off with an additional layer. Something that would further enhance the unique qualities, celebrate the location, and create more of an experience for recipients. A postcard-type piece (with a custom map on the back) was the result. We printed everything on a beautiful, off-white kraft paper showcasing natural wood fibers. I then tied it up neatly with jute string, and topped it with a sage tag adorned with the lake house illustration.
